The shield-shaped emblem of Muzaffarpur Institute of Technology (MIT Muzaffarpur) features the name of the college, a bridge on a river, a sailboat, a transmission tower, a water dam, a pair of gear wheels, a crane and pulley. The shield crested by the Ashoka Pillar with a the statue of a lion and a banner inscribed with the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘सर्वोपरि कर्म’ (2.44, Bhagavad Gita) meaning ‘Work is Above Everything Else’. The initials of the college ‘MIT’ is written in the middle of the shield. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the Ashoka Pillar symbolises the heritage, culture and the architecture of the place; and the other motifs refer to the subject disciplines of science, engineering and technology.
