DR. BABASAHEB AMBEDKAR MARATHWADA UNIVERSITY

The emblem of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada (BAMU) has the motif of arch of Ajanta Arch placed on a base on which its motto is inscribed in Marathi ‘हे ज्ञानिची पवित्रता। ज्ञानीचि आथि॥’ meaning ‘O, Sanctity of Knowledge. Knowledge is the Source’. The arch is a symbol of glory. The open book on a book reading stand symbolising learning; the sheaf of Jowar, representing agriculture; a pair of elephants, representing the strength of purpose of the people of Marathwada and a wheel symbolising progress and industrial growth are placed within the arch. The emblem is in yellow and brown colours which symbolise happiness, energy, vitality, focus and creativity and earthiness, simplicity, stability, humility, warmth, reliability, endurance, timelessness and tradition respectively.

The university's mission is to inculcate the essence of the Sanskrit Shloka ‘पदं हि सर्वत्र गुणैर्निधीयते’ meaning ‘Good Qualities Put their Footprints Everywhere’. The logo of the university has a blue and green abstract pictorial of ‘U’ and on its right a wordmark of its name in capitals thin serif letters with smooth transition of strokes. The counter of the ‘U’ is filled blue and a stroke of blue and green flows across diagonally from left to right top. This is further cut out by another ‘U’ at the top right corner.
