PANDIT LAKHMI CHAND STATE UNIVERSITY OF PERFORMING AND VISUAL ARTS

The seal of Pandit Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (PLCSUPVA) has four squircles in cyan, magenta, green and orange superimposed by a white circle symbolising the forms of arts being pursued by the university. Below these its motto in Sanskrit ‘कला साधना परम् दैवतम्’ meaning ‘Practice of Arts is Supreme Divine’ is inscribed. These motifs are placed inside a bull eye formation to denote the focus of the university. It has a blue circular outline in which its and place are inscribed.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
