KRISHNA VISHWA VIDYAPEETH

The seal of Krishna Vishwa Vidyapeeth (KVV) is a blue shield white border lines and motifs in white. The shield houses the motifs of a Staff of Hermes with a pair of entwined serpents and wings supported by an open book at the bottom and a pair of laurels on sides. Its acronym and three stars are placed at the bottom. The Staff of Hermes or Caduceus represents medicine and medical profession; the open book denotes learning, education, knowledge and wisdom; the laurels denote ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication; the shield symbolises protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the three stars denote perfect harmony among all things in life, with its points providing insight into how we can strive towards achieving this goal and the colour blue represents serenity, calmness, trust, spirituality, calmness, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
