The emblem of Kaviyatri Bahinabai Chaudhari North Maharashtra University (KBC NMU) has a traditional lamp supporting an open book with a backdrop of rising sun.Theses are ensconced by a circular border. A banner surmounting the motifs carries the name of the university in Devanagari. Below the motif, on a banner its motto in Marathi ‘अंतरी पेटवू  ज्ञानज्योत’ meaning ‘Let us Light the Flame of Knowledge’ and the year of inception of university is written below the banner. The lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; the book denotes knowledge, learning, education and wisdom and the sun symbolises life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity.

At the bottom, a banner inscribed with the motto of the college in Tamil ‘‘கற்றனைத் தூறும் அறிவு’ (Thiruvalluvar, 396, Thirukkural) meaning ‘Knowledge Grows As Much As One Learns’ is inscribed is placed on the seal. Athiyaman and Avvaiyar refer to history and heritage; the book, sun and the humans refer to education and educational achievement; the tree refers to nature, sustenance and growth; the computer refers to technology; and the dam refers to the local landmark.
