NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF STUDY AND RESEARCH IN LAW |
The seal of National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi has a green shield surmounted by a white banner with blue and green ends and black outlines, which carries the name and place of the university. The shield houses the motifs of a banyan tree, a two pan beam balance, its scale, acronym and its motto in Sanskrit ‘नासतो विद्यते भावो न भावो विद्यते सतः’ (Shloka 16, Chapter 2, Bhagavad Gita) meaning ‘The Unreal Hath No Being; There is Non-being of the Real’. The shield is bordered on both the sides by a pair of six upward pointing arrows. The green colour shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the balance is the traditional symbol of justice; the banyan tree denotes strength, perpetuity, individuality and expression, calmness, growth and the interconnectedness of everything; the upward pointing arrows symbolise growth, positivism, superior aims and aspirations; the banner ends denote harmony and balance and the colour green denotes agriculture, nature, growth, balance, harmony, environment, prosperity, vitality, prestige, wealth and being very down to earth.
