COOCH BEHAR PANCHANAN BARMA UNIVERSITY

The emblem of the Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma University (CBPBU) has a blue circular panel holding the motifs of an open book supporting a conch or Shankh. Below this four cyan colour swooshes holds the name of the university in black. These four strokes represent the rivers of Teesta, Jaldhaka, Jorda, Kaljani, Raidak, Gadadhar and Ghargharia, which flow in Cooch Behar. The open book symbolises knowledge, education and wisdom; the conch or Shankh  which is a sacred object in Hinduism and Buddhism and it is a symbol of Vishnu, the God of Preservation and the colour blue symbolises serenity, calmness, trust, spirituality, calmness, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty.

Formerly called Guru Ghasidas University (GGU), established by an Act of the State Legislative Assembly, was formally inaugurated on June 16, 1983. The insignia of the institution has a innumerable concentric petalled lotus in a red circle encircled by its name and motto in Sanskrit ‘ज्ञान पंथ कृपान कै धारा’ meaning ‘Cult of Knowledge is Through the Blessings’ and is ensconced in a blue gear wheel turning clockwise. NATIONAL BANK FOR FINANCING INFRASTRUCTURE AND DEVELOPMENT The need for establishing a dedicated financial institution to address the long-term infrastructure financing requirements in India was realised considering the nation’s GDP growth objectives and the role of infrastructure development towards the same. In response to this need, the National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development Act, 2021 was introduced, as it denotes the return of Development Financial Institutions (DFIs) in the country after a few decades. The Act subsequently received the assent of the President on March 28, 2021 and has come into force effective April 19, 2021. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) vide its letter dated March 8, 2022 has advised that NaBFID shall be regulated and supervised by RBI as an All India Financial Institution (AIFI) under sections 45L and 45N of the RBI Act, 1934, respectively. THE JAMMU & KASHMIR LIGHT INFANTRY India's first Light Infantry was born out of the peoples' response in 1947, to the invasion of Kashmir by Pakistan. In the difficult days of the invasion, the population formed local defence groups. These were later organised into militias responsible for specific sectors, e.g., Leh, Nubra, Jammu, Punch, etc. Over a period, these were grouped into the Militia battalions. Two of these were later converted into the Ladakh Scouts. The militia battalions operated with skill on the Line of Control (LoC) and in the 1971 Indo-Pak War earned three battle honours. In 1972, the militia battalions were brought on par with the army units, and in 1976 designated the Jammu & Kashmir Light Infantry (JAK LI). The 8th JAK LI earned great honour by capturing a Pakistani post at 21,000 feet at the Siachen Glacier in 1987.
