The sun  represents life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity; the birds symbolise freedom, transcendence, and spiritual messages; and the book refers to learning, education, knowledge and wisdom.

The Staff is supported by green mountains with orange rising sun and its motto in Sanskrit ‘ज्ञानम् जीवनम् च प्रति’ meaning ‘Towards Knowledge and Life’. These are ensconced by a blue circle around which its name is written. This is supported by a pair of laurels. Below these motifs its acronym is written. KASHI TAMIL SANGAMAM The Ministry of Education, Government of India will organise 'Kashi Tamil Sangamam'- a month long programme from November 16, 2022 - to rediscover the centuries-old bond of knowledge and ancient civilizational linkage between Varanasi and Tamilnadu. The programme will be organised under the framework of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat'. IIT-Madras and Banaras Hindu University are the hosting partners of this mega event. Its logo is a greyish blue pen supported on both sides by temple towers of Banaras and Tamilnadu. It is ensconced by a dark blue circular line and supported by a blue line depicting water.
