Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) is India’s first university focussed on transport and logistics related education, multidisciplinary research and training. Established in 2018 as NRTI, a Deemed to be University under De Novo category, it was converted to a Central University and rechristened as Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India in 2022. Its emblem has a steam rail engine, a mortarboard hat, a globe, a book, Its motto in Sanskrit ‘ज्ञानस्याभ्यासं कुरु’meaning ‘Practice of Knowledge’ and its year of establishment. These are ensconced by a circular rail track and surrounded by its name and at the bottom its official status. Rail engine symbolises one of the major forms of transport, mortarboard symbolises knowledge attainment in the chosen field, globe represents universal application of knowledge and open book symbolises education, knowledge and wisdom.
