VENKATESHWARA OPEN UNIVERSITY

Venkateshwara Open University was established through the Arunachal Pradesh State Legislative Act, LAW/LEGN-10/2012 Arunachal Pradesh (Act No.10 of 2012). The university’s emblem is in red colour with details in white, yellow and black. A rising flame and an open book support a mortarboard hat is surrounded by the name of the university and its motto in Sanskrit ‘ज्ञानम् कर्मम् वृतम्’ meaning ‘Knowledge Encompasses Action’. All these are ensconced in a white circular border line and design pattern. The flame from the book represents light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity acquired through knowledge; the open book denotes knowledge and wisdom and the halo denotes divinity, godliness and immortality. And the mortarboard hat meant for graduates, means the graduation of students in their chosen subjects. The colour red signifies passion, power, strength, courage, determination, energy and celebration.>

MAULANA AZAD NATIONAL URDU UNIVERSITY Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) is a Central University established by an Act of Parliament in 1998. The logo of the university has two strokes of orange and green forming the shape of ‘U’ in tricolour and has a ‘Ashoka Chakra’ at its top. This is supported by an open book on which images of an atom and a burning candle are depicted. Its name is written in Urdu atop the emblem on a banner; written in Devanagari on a banner above the logo and in English at its bottom. The book represents knowledge and education; the atom denotes science and the candle denotes light and guidance to discover the unknown.

SANT GAHIRA GURU VISHWAVIDYALAYA The circular emblem of Sant Gahira Guru Vishwavidyalaya (SGCG), formerly known a s Sarguja University has a circular border in orange and green and has its name, place and motto inscribed in Devanagari and supported by a pair of tribal ornaments. The motto is written in Sanskrit which is an extract from the Kathopanishad ‘विद्ययाऽमृतमश्नुते’, (Shloka 11, Ishopanishad) meaning ‘Immortality is Gained from Learning’. Inside the border, motifs of a drum, supported by a pair of horns; an open book topped by a red sun ; a banyan tree and a pair of crests of millets are placed. The banyan tree symbolises strength, individuality, expression, calmness, growth, the interconnectedness of everything and perpetuity; the sun denotes life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity; the open book denotes knowledge, education, wisdom and learning and horns, drum and crests of millets denote tribal culture and food.

The motto of the college in Sanskrit in Sanskrit ‘योगः कर्मसु कौशलम्’ (Verse 50, Chapter 2, Bhagavad Gita), which translates to ‘Yoga is Skill in Action’ is written on a green banner with red outlines.
