UNIVERSITY OF HORTICULTURAL SCIENCES BAGALKOT

University of Horticultural Sciences Bagalkot (UHSB) was established through a special Ordinance No 2 of 2008 dated November 22, 2008. The emblem of the university has a green circular border bearing its name in Kannada and English separated flowers ensconces a map of the State of Karnataka and crested by a shining object from which fruits, flowers, nuts, greens, microscope, vegetables, emanate and these are supported by a traditional lamp. Below the circle is a brown colour banner bearing its motto in Kannada ‘ಫಲಪ್ರಷ್ಟ ತಾಂಬೂಲಗಳು ಸಮೃದ್ಧಿಯಾಗಲಿ’ meaning 'May Fruitful Tambulas Abound’ is placed. The motifs represent the produce and services the university caters to and the lamp denotes light, path for growth and way forward. The colours green and Brown are the colours of the land, agriculture and nature.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.

On a blue ribbon placed below the star, the name and place of the college are written.
