Manipur Rural Bank was established on May 28, 1981 as a joint undertaking of the Government of India, Government of Manipur and Punjab National Bank (Sponsor Bank) by contributing share capital at the ratio 50:15:35 respectively. The circular emblem of the bank in fresh green and tones of orange has a motif of a map of the State of Manipur. Inside the map there is a rising sun and landscape; a field of paddy and a woman working on a weaving loom. The map is ensconced in a green circular border, which carries the name of the bank and the place of its head office - Imphal. The border is outlined by yellow, orange and brown lines. Green denotes hope, freedom, agriculture, nature and fertility and orange denotes creativity, joy, energy, vitality, good luck and creativity.
