The Vikrant University in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh is incorporated with the sole object of setting new standards in higher education, research and innovation. The logo of the university has a blue shield bearing the motifs of rising sun, an open book with V & U written on a torch in white colour. Its name and place is written on its right in sans serif bold and light font. The sun is a symbol of life, warmth, growth and energy; an open book denotes knowledge and wisdom and the mortarboard meant for graduates meaning the graduation of students in their chosen subjects and the torch denotes light, path for growth and way forward; gear wheel is the symbol of industrialisation and progress. The colour blue represents calmness, serenity, trust, loyalty, wisdom, intelligence, spirituality, stability and security which goes well with the brand of the university which it has cultivated over decades

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
