J&K GRAMEEN BANK

J&K Grameen Bank (JKGB) was established on June 30, 2009 under sub-section (1) of Section 23-A of the RRB Act, 1976 (21 of 1976) and is functioning in eleven Districts in the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir and two districts in UT of Ladakh. The colourful emblem of the JKGB has a tree with foliage and birds and at the right it has its name written in black sans serif thin and bold font with its tagline ‘Engendering Empowerment’ at the bottom. The tree is representative of a typical rural ambience. A large tree is considered as the focal point of socio-economic development in a village under the shade of which all important decisions related to the development of the village are taken. The tree also signifies a symbol of providing shade, shelter, nutrition etc., to all without any discrimination. It is an all encompassing, benign and towering existence that the symbol portrays to depict. The tree’s trunk is in brown colour, the foliage is green, the flowers are red and the birds are blue.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.

WESTERN AIR COMMAND The origin of the Western Air Command can be traced back to the nascent years of independent India, when the various formations of the Air Force were organised into two groups. On July 22, 1949 the No 1 Operational Group was re-designated as the Operational Command. The Command assumed its present name of Headquarters Western Air Command on June 10, 1963. Headquarters Western Air Command, located at Subroto Park, New Delhi, has over 200 bases placed under its command and has been involved in all major operations in India since independence. Due to its geographical location the Command has always been the hub-centre of all operational activities during any operation. Its insignia has a ‘trishul’ and an eagle in the centre of a circle which is topped by India’s national emblem. Its motto in Sanskrit ‘Akashmasthseema’ in golden border is placed at the bottom.

On this background, the motifs of a Staff of Hermes is placed on an open book placed above a four pillared facade and supported by a pair of hands. Below the shield, on a blue banner the year of establishment of the college is inscribed. The shield refers to protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the Staff Caduceus the Staff of Hermes with a pair of entwined snakes and wings denotes medicine and medical profession; the book refers to knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; the facade with four pillars symbolises the bridge to heaven from earth and the pillar means strength, security of foundation and trustworthiness; and the hands refer to that of the college management.

THE TAMILNADU DR. M.G.R. MEDICAL UNIVERSITY The Tamil Nadu Medical University started functioning from July 1988. The emblem of the university symbolises various systems of medicine viz., medical, dental, Indian medicine, homoeopathy and allied health sciences. It also depicts the global character of preventive, promotive and curative medicine. The motto ‘Health for all’ reflects the objective of the medical university. The logo of the Board is based on Devanagari letter ‘उ’ drawn using four swooshes, in which the cyan represents the mountains, blue represents the rivers, red represents the temples of the land and green represents the forests. An abstract depiction of the holy river Prachi supports the tilak. The motifs are ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name of the college. The seal is placed on a decorated platform. The motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya, 1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘From Darkness Lead Me to Light’ is written is inscribed on the front side of the platform.
