VINOBA BHAVE UNIVERSITY

Vinoba Bhave University (VBU) is the fruit of a years long endeavour by the people of Hazaribag. In 1992 The Bihar State Assembly amended the Bihar State Universities Act 1976, carving Vinoba Bhave University out of Ranchi University. It was named after the saint and pioneer of the Bhoodan Movement, Acharya Vinoba Bhave. The emblem of the university has a traditional lamp placed inside a circle, surrounded by an eight petalled red lotus, which is ensconced in a circular border carrying the name of the university and its place in Devanagari. At the bottom, on a blue banner its motto in Sanskrit 'जीवनं सत्यशोधनम्’ meaning ‘Life is the Purification of Truth’ is written. The traditional lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity. Lotus denotes purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty. The circle denotes perpetuity and ever evolving.

SANT BABA BHAG SINGH UNIVERSITY The emblem of Sant Baba Bhag Singh University (SBBSU) in orange and blue has a Khanda forming the background for orange rising sun supported by an open book and a pair of laurels on sides surmounted by its acronym. All these are ensconced by a orange circular border with blue and white outlines on which the motto of the university in Punjabi ‘ਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਜਨੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਧੇਰ ਬਿਨਾਸੁ’ (Guru Arjun Dev, Sloku 14, Page 293) meaning ‘To whom the Satguru has Bestowed the Glory of Knowledge, his Ignorance (form) Darkness is Destroyed’ and its name in Punjabi are written. KARNATAKA POLICE Police in Karnataka were called by various names in different regions. After initiation of policing, they were initially called Thoti, Talwar, Umbalidhar, Kattubidi, Neeraganti etc. The police primarily with policing used to do other jobs entrusted to them. Mysore State was the predecessor to Karnataka State, which was created on November 1, 1965. Sri. L. Rickets was appointed as first Inspector General of Police. RAJENDRA UNIVERSITY Rajendra University, Balangir, recognized by UGC as a State Public University, owes its origin to an Intermediate college setup in Balangir in 1944 by Maharaja Rajendra Narayan Sighdeo, the then ruler of the erstwhile Patna State and one of the former Chief Ministers of Odisha. CENTRAL UNIVERSITY OF TAMILNADU The Government of India founded the Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN), along with eight other Central Universities, through an Act of Parliament in 2009. Its emblem is in the form of a black shield with a crest of flames in yellow and orange colours. The top portion of the shield, which is separated by a horizontal double head arrow line, has its name written in Devanagari topped by a rising sun. The portion below this is divided into three parts with a symbol of recycling materials, a graduating scholar in a halo and a stem of plant shooting from a pair of meshed gear wheels, which are supported by a pair of blue ribbons. The recycle emblem and the graduate are separated by a pair of downward flowing ribbons. Below the gear, the year of establishment of the university is written. The edge of the shield is marked by the name of the university in English.
