VINOBA BHAVE UNIVERSITY

Vinoba Bhave University (VBU) is the fruit of a years long endeavour by the people of Hazaribag. In 1992 The Bihar State Assembly amended the Bihar State Universities Act 1976, carving Vinoba Bhave University out of Ranchi University. It was named after the saint and pioneer of the Bhoodan Movement, Acharya Vinoba Bhave. The emblem of the university has a traditional lamp placed inside a circle, surrounded by an eight petalled red lotus, which is ensconced in a circular border carrying the name of the university and its place in Devanagari. At the bottom, on a blue banner its motto in Sanskrit 'जीवनं सत्यशोधनम्’ meaning ‘Life is the Purification of Truth’ is written. The traditional lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity. Lotus denotes purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty. The circle denotes perpetuity and ever evolving.

ETERNAL UNIVERSITY The orange and blue emblem of Eternal University (EU) has a globe in the tones of orange with a dove with a branch of olive flying above. The name of the university is written in black and red. Its motto ‘In Pursuit of Permanent Peace and Spiritual Brotherhood’ is written along the circumference of the globe. The dove with a branch of olive symbolises peace, innocence and purity; the globe symbolises education, knowledge, influence, timelessness, global unity and interconnectedness and the colour orange denotes energy, vitality, creativity, inspiration, joy and happiness.

Kalakshetra Foundation as it is known today was recognised by the Government of India as an Institute of National Importance by an Act of Parliament in 1993 and is now an autonomous body under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. GOVERNMENT ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE, PAPPIREDDIPATTI (GASCPRP) The emblem of Government Arts and Science College, Pappireddipatti (GASCPRP) features shield housing the motifs of the king Athiyaman interacting with poet Avvaiyar, an open book with rising sun and two abstract humans, a tree held by a pair of hands, a computer and an image of Vaniyar Dam, ensconced by a purple circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. At the bottom, a banner inscribed with the motto of the college in Tamil ‘‘கற்றனைத் தூறும் அறிவு’ (Thiruvalluvar, 396, Thirukkural) meaning ‘Knowledge Grows As Much As One Learns’ is inscribed is placed on the seal. Athiyaman and Avvaiyar refer to history and heritage; the book, sun and the humans refer to education and educational achievement; the tree refers to nature, sustenance and growth; the computer refers to technology; and the dam refers to the local landmark.
