NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR TEACHER EDUCATION

National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), as a statutory body of Government of India, came into existence in pursuance of the National Council for Teacher Education Act, 1993 on August 17, 1995. The emblem of NCTE has an abstract symbol which shows a pair of hands supporting a light or lotus bud held by a pair of strong hands symbolise, enabling the teachers in their profession. Below this its motto in Sanskrit ‘गुरुर्गुरुतमो धाम’ meaning ‘Supporting the Teacher to Glory’ and its acronym are written.
