Named after a renowned philosopher- thinker, poet, sage and yogi, Vemana, Yogi Vemana University (YVU), established in the year 2006, by an Act of A.P state legislature is a blessing for the backward Rayalseema region. The emblem of the university has a globe on base, on which a student sits and studies on a background of sky with clouds and sun, representing the learning of universal knowledge and wisdom. This is supported on either side by a stalk of corn. These are ensconced in a circular blue border, which carries the name of the university and its motto in Telugu. At the bottom of the circle on a blue banner the name of the university is written in white. Corn stalks have been used in many cultures as a symbol of life because it grows from seed to stalk in only 80 days - a short time span compared to other plants and is regarded as a symbol of longevity, prosperity, protection, and spirituality. The globe is a spherical model of earth, of some other celestial body, or of the celestial sphere. The sun is a symbol of life, warmth, growth, and energy. The blue colour in the logo represents trust, security and stability, while the red color represents action, dynamism and growth.
