Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya (UBKV) is a State agricultural university in Pundibari about eleven kilometres North-West of Cooch Behar, West Bengal, India. It was established in 2001 by an Act of the West Bengal legislature. The emblem of the university is in the tones of violet and in the shape of a lanceolate or semi ellipse, with a border bearing its name. It has been divided into three vertical parts. The left portion has the motifs of a crest of cereal, clutch of paddy and a tractor and the right portion has a trailer, social forest and an agricultural produce processing unit. The middle portion has an open book and a microscope at the backdrop of mountains with rising sun supported by a traditional mud home with thatched roof and a man and a woman carrying agricultural produce. All these are supported by its motto ‘Where Wisdom is Free’. The mountains and the rising sun symbolises the geographical areas of the university. The book represents knowledge and wisdom; a microscope represents research and wisdom and all the other motifs denote the stakeholder, their tools, implements and the infrastructure.
