Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya (MGAHV) or Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University was established to fulfil a dream of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation. Mahatma Gandhi was of the firm opinion that Hindi should not only be the national language of the country, but it should also gain the status of a world language. Its emblem is an interesting depiction of its acronym in Hindi, interspersed by a set of parallel but lines of uneven thickness in a dark blue background. It is attractive, intriguing and holds attention. Its motto is placed at the bottom in Sanskrit ‘ज्ञान शांति मैत्री’ meaning ‘Knowledge Peace Friendship’.
