The insignia of the Sikkim Manipal University (SMU) is known as ‘Manipal Mogo’ in short. The visual identity is centred around the ‘manah’ (mind) symbol. The ‘manah’ is about the development of the human mind, which is innovating daily to give the best solutions to life’s customers. The rich orange tone of copper signifies the change from the past (our heritage) to a bright and prosperous future. This emblem captures the exploring, caring nature to bring alive through the business of education. The symbol is supported by a pair of laurels and its tagline ‘Inspired by Life’ is inscribed at the bottom. The laurels signify ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
