The emblem of Sree Chitra Thirunal College of Engineering (SCTCE) is derived from the traditional Travancore state emblem, the conch-shell Sri Padmanhnabha Shanka is surrounded by a gearwheel. The two elephants guarding the gearwheel crested by a traditional lamp and supported by a floral design pattern is a derivative of the State Emblem of Kerala. The elephant denotes supremacy and power; Sree Padmanabha's Shankhu was one of the most iconic emblems found throughout Kerala's history and was the official insignia of Sree Ananthapadmanabha Swamy - the National deity and emperor of erstwhile Travancore. On a banner placed below the design elements its motto in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya, 1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘From Darkness Lead Me to Light’ is written. A large banner bearing the name of the college is placed at the bottom . The gearwheel denotes the study of engineering; and the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity.
