KARPAGAM ACADEMY OF HIGHER EDUCATION

Karpagam Academy of Higher Education (KAHE) established under Section 3 of UGC Act 1956. Dr. R. Vasanthakumar, the president of Karpagam Charity trust (KCT). The emblem of the university has a rising sun in a green circle supported by an open book created using six grey swooshes and below these its motto ‘Enable Enlighten Enrich’ is written. Its name is written in grey and green sans serif font alongwith its status at the bottom. The rising sun denotes light, universal prosperity and path for growth; the open book symbolises education, knowledge and wisdom; the colour green symbolises agriculture, nature, growth, balance, harmony, environment, prosperity, vitality, prestige, wealth and being very down to earth and the colour grey represents strength, longevity, unemotional, detached, balanced and impartial, power, influence, wisdom and intelligence.

GOVERNMENT DEGREE COLLEGE, PADDER (GDC PADDER) The emblem of Government Degree College, Padder (GDC Padder) features a traditional diya in the colours of National Flag with a glowing orangish flame supporting an open book. The lamp is inscribed with the year of establishment of the college, the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘बुद्धिर्ज्ञानेन शुद्ध्यति’ ((Shloka 109, Adhyay 5, Manu Smriti) and (Shloka 72, Adhyaya 46 , Uttara Ardha , Kashi Khanda , Skanda Purana)), which translates to ‘Intellect is Cleansed by Knowledge’ and the initials of the college ‘G.D.C. COTTON UNIVERSITY Cotton University (CU) was formerly known as Cotton College, the institute was established in 1901 by Sir Henry Stedman Cotton, the Chief Commissioner of the erstwhile British province of Assam. It became a constituent college of Gauhati University in 1948. In 2011 the Cotton College State University was established vide an Act of the Government of Assam, with the college as a constituent. Cotton University came into being in 2017 through The Cotton University Act, 2017 that enabled the unification of Cotton College State University and Cotton College. The official emblem of the university dates back to 1933. It was designed by Mohendra Nath Deka Phukan, an alumni of the university. This emblem is a shield which is a symbol of protection of Assam. PALLAVA DYNASTY - BULL The Pallava Dynasty existed from 275 CE to 897 CE, ruling a significant portion of the Deccan, also known as Thondaimandalam. The dynasty rose to prominence after the downfall of the Satavahana dynasty, with whom they had formerly served as feudatories. The Pallavas became a major South Indian power during the reign of Mahendravarman I(600–630 CE) and Narasimhavarman I (630–668 CE), dominating for about 600 years, until the end of the 9th century. Kancheepuram served as the capital of the Pallava kingdom.  They developed the Pallava script, from which, Grantha ultimately took form. This script eventually gave rise to several other Southeast Asian scripts such Khmer. The Chinese traveller Xuanzang visited Kanchipuram during Pallava rule and extolled their benign rule.
