Sri Basaveshwara, a 12th-century Indian philosopher, social reformer, and statesman who championed social equality and advocated for a casteless society. His presence symbolizes the institute's commitment to his ideals of social justice and human values. The gear wheels denote interconnectedness, efficiency, precision, progress, advancement, synchronisation, timing, order and structure.

SANT GAHIRA GURU VISHWAVIDYALAYA The circular emblem of Sant Gahira Guru Vishwavidyalaya (SGCG), formerly known a s Sarguja University has a circular border in orange and green and has its name, place and motto inscribed in Devanagari and supported by a pair of tribal ornaments. The motto is written in Sanskrit which is an extract from the Kathopanishad ‘विद्ययाऽमृतमश्नुते’, (Shloka 11, Ishopanishad) meaning ‘Immortality is Gained from Learning’.
