The green colour seal of Dr. Y. S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (YSPU) has its acronym used to create a pictogram of three leaves with roots and soil. Below this its year of inception is written and above it its motto in Sanskrit ‘अनुसन्धाण - शिक्षन - विस्तारक्रमै: सुवनस्यतयः सम्वर्धन्ताम्’ meaning ‘Let the Forests be Enhanced by Research, Teaching and Extension Programmes’ is inscribed. Its name is written on a circular border with green outlines in Devanagari and English. The colour green symbolises agriculture, nature, growth, balance, harmony, environment, prosperity, vitality, prestige, wealth and being very down to earth. The emblem is elegant and attractive.
