The emblem of ICAT Design & Media College (ICAT) features a circular pictorial of a banyan tree placed on a black and white circle ensconced by a dial like border and supported by a ‘yali’ and an elephant on sides and its motto on a banner at the bottom. These are placed within a circular border inscribed with the name of the college. The name of the college is written on the right in blue with its places at the bottom. The banyan tree symbolises strength, individuality, expression, calmness, growth, the interconnectedness of everything and perpetuity; the black and white circle refers to ; the dial like border refers to measurement, precision and need based design; and the black and white typically refers to the Yin-Yang (or Taijitu), a fundamental Chinese symbol representing duality, balance, and the interconnectedness of opposing forces like light and dark, male and female, and active and passive. The gauge-like circular border refers to precision, measurement, limits, performance, and control. The ‘Yali’ is a fierce guardian, representing immense strength, power, and protection against evil in South Indian art; and the elephant signifies power, strength, unity and wisdom.
