The name of the college is written on a banner placed above the shield and the motto of the college is inscribed on a banner placed below the shield. The motto in Tamil reads ‘அறிவு ஆற்றல் அறம்’ meaning Knowledge Power Virtue’. The shield denotes valour, courage, strength, support and protection; temple symbolises divine blessings and guidance; the boat refers to fishing and fisherfolk; and the sun  represents life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity.
