Below the seal, on a banner, the motto of the college ‘Confidence Courage Commitment’ is inscribed. The gopuram symbolises the places’s history, heritage and divine blessings and guidance; the lotus denotes purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty; the book refers to learning, education, knowledge and wisdom and the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity.

KIIT owes its existence to the vision of its founder Prof. Achyuta Samanta. The green colour emblem of the institute has a bottom half of a gear wheel supporting the acronym ‘KIIT’ of its name in which the two ‘i’s depicting two humans. The gear wheel symbolises interconnectedness; efficiency and precision; progress and advancement; synchronisation and timing and order and structure. The colour green symbolises agriculture, nature, growth, balance, harmony, environment, prosperity, vitality, prestige, wealth and being very down to earth.
