The emblem of Government Arts and Science College, Lalgudi (GASCKL) features a satellite-like image holding the motifs of a gopuram on one of its panel, supported by a lotus and surmounted by five stars. On a blue banner placed below the seal, the motto of the college in Tamil ‘அறிவை விரிவு செய்’ meaning ‘Expand Your Knowledge’ is inscribed. A pair of elephants stands on the edge of the banner. The gopuram refers to the more than 1200 years old Saptharishishwarar Temple, divine grace and blessings; the lotus signifies purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty; the stars symbolise perfect harmony among all things in life, with its points providing insight into how we can strive towards achieving this goal; and the elephants signify power, strength, unity and wisdom.
