The emblem of Government Arts and Science College, Rishivandiyam (GASCR) features a shield with red outlines housing the gopuram of Sri Arthanareeswarar Temple, six stars, an open book with a quill, ‘₹’ symbol, and a mortarboard hat. The shield is supported by a red banner inscribed with the college’s motto in Tamil ‘நன்றின்பால் உய்ப்பது அறிவு’ (442, Thirukkural, Thiruvalluvar) meaning ‘Knowledge…, but Keeping it Away from Evil and Directing it Only Towards Good’ supported by a pair of elephants. These motifs are ensconced by a green circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college in Tamil. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the gopuram Sri Arthanareeswarar Temple refers to history, heritage and divine blessings and guidance; the ‘₹’ symbol refers to finance and economics; the mortarboard hat hat or Oxford hat denotes educational achievement, equality, tradition and rights of passage; the stars represent perfect harmony among all things in life, with its points providing insight into how we can strive towards achieving this goal; the book and the quill refers to learning, education, knowledge and wisdom; the elephants signify power, strength, unity and wisdom.

14 CORPS The 14 Corps of the Indian Army is a part of the Army’s Udhampur-based Northern Command. It was raised after the Kargil War in 1999, to control troops in Ladakh.
