The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the mortarboard hat or Oxford hat denotes educational achievement, equality, tradition and rights of passage; the trophy symbolises games, sports, hard work, achievement, victory and glory; the nib of a pen symbolises freedom, intelligence, creativity, professionalism, determination and diligence; the book refers to education, knowledge, learning and wisdom; the hands protect and support the knowledge and educational endeavours; and the laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.
