These elements are ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name of the college and its motto ‘Discipline Endeavour Success’. The book refers to knowledge, learning, education and wisdom; and the mortarboard hat or Oxford hat denotes educational achievement, equality, tradition and rights of passage.
