The emblem of Periyar Arts College, Cuddalore (PACC) features a shield inscribed with the motifs of a ‘kuthuvilakku’ (a traditional lamp), an open book, and a ship. The shield is surmounted by the gopuram of Sri Thirupapuliyur Arulmigu Periyanayagi Udanurai Paadaleeswarar Temple supported by a pair of elephants and supported by a banner inscribed with its motto in Tamil ‘கேடில் விழுச்செல்வம் கல்வி’ (400, Thirukkural, Thiruvalluvar) meaning ‘The Best Wealth that Does Not Perish for One is Education’. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; the book refers to education, knowledge, learning and wisdom; the ship refers to the Cuddalore Port; the gopuram signifies divine blessings and guidance; and the elephants signify power, strength, unity and wisdom.
