The circular seal of Kunthavai Naacchiyaar Govt Arts College for Women (KNGAC) features an image of the Lord Brihadeeswarar Temple of Thanjavur, a sculpture of queen Kunthavai, a veena, a pair of books, a lotus, and a pair of laurels. The motifs are surmounted by a blue banner inscribed with the motto of the college in Tamil ‘உள்ளத்தனையது உயர்வு’ (Thiruvalluvar, 595, Thirukkural) meaning ‘The Height of Life is the Measure of the Motivation of the People. It is supported by the name of the college written in Tamil. The Brihadeeswarar Temple in Thanjavur is a heritage site and a symbol of the region's rich history and architectural grandeur; the veena reefers to culture, arts and tradition; the books refer to learning, education, knowledge and wisdom; the lotus denotes purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty; the laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
