The emblem of Bharat Ratna Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G.R.Government Arts and Science College, Palacode (GAS Palacode) features a shield in tricolour housing the motifs of an open book and a lamp, the chieftain Adigaman Naduman Anji, a patron of the famous poetess Avvaiyar, a factory and engineering tools, and Yelagiri Hills mountain range. Below the shield, on a ribbon the motto of the college in Tamil ‘அறிவு ஆற்றல் ஒழுக்கம்’ meaning ‘Knowledge Ability Discipline’ is inscribed. These motifs are placed on a grey circle. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; the book refers to learning, education, knowledge and wisdom; the factory and tools refer to the region’s industrial belt; and Yelagiri Hills is the famous hill station of that region.
