The motifs are surmounted by a red banner inscribed with the name and place of the college in Tamil and supported by another red banner inscribed with the motto of the college in Tamil ‘ஒழுக்கத்தின் எய்துவர் மேன்மை’ (Thiruvalluvar, 137, Thirukkural) meaning ‘Through Discipline, One Attains Progress’. The motifs refer to the historical and cultural traditions of the place of the college; and the book refers to education, knowledge, learning and wisdom.
