The emblem of Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College (SRC) features a portrait of Lord Shri Rama with Goddess Sita, Lakshman and Lord Hanuman on blue circle who are the central figures in the Hindu epic Ramayana, representing ideals of righteousness (Rama), devotion and purity (Sita), loyalty (Lakshman), and selfless service and strength (Hanuman), often depicted together in a divine assembly called the Ram Darbar, symbolising harmony and virtuous living. Rama is an avatar of Vishnu, Sita of Lakshmi, and Hanuman a powerful devotee. The portrait is supported by an open book referring to education, knowledge, learning and wisdom; and ensconced by a circular yellow banner inscribed with the name of the college. Below the seal, on a banner, the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘‘न हि ज्ञानेन सदृशं (पवित्रमिह विद्यते)’ (Shloka 38, Chapter 4, Srimad Bhagavad Gita) meaning ‘In this ‘World there Exists (No Purifier Comparable to Knowledge)’and English ‘Nothing Equals Wisdom', and a pair of ‘ॐ’s or ‘Ohms’ which refer a sacred sound, syllable, mantra and an invocation are written. The central portrait symbolises virtues such as righteousness, devotion, and harmony, which are central themes in the Ramayana.
