The emblem of Manav Rachna Centre for Distance and Online Education (Manav Rachna Online) The emblem of the university has a human motif depicted as a tree trunk and its hands as branches with green leaves. At its right the name ‘Manav Rachna’ is written in sans serif bold font in red colour and its name is written in black. The human motif represents the stakeholder and its being depicted as a tree symbolising the responsibility of humans in nourishing nature and cohabit with it. The tree denotes strength, individuality and expression, calmness, growth and the interconnectedness of everything.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
