The emblem of Thiruvalluvar Government Arts College, Rasipuram (TGASC) features a shield inscribed with the motifs of a pair of elephants holding a lotus, a ‘kuthuvilakku’ (a traditional lamp), an open book, Kailasanathar Kovil temple, Lion Capital, a lotus and the image of poet Thiruvalluvar. The name of the college in Tamil surmounts the shield and a green banner inscribed with the motto of the college in Tamil ‘உள்ளத்து அனையது உயர்வு’ meaning ‘The Height of Life is the Measure of the Enthusiasm of the People’ (Thiruvalluvar, 595, Thirukkural) supports it. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the lotus denotes purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty; the elephants signify power, strength, unity and wisdom; the book refers to knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; the temple refers to the local heritage and divine blessings; and the Lion Capital refers to nationalism.
