THE AMERICAN COLLEGE

The emblem of The American College features a cauldron of fire supported by its motto in Latin ‘Purificatus Non Consumptus’ meaning ‘Purified But Not Consumed’ and ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. The sea is placed on a floral pattern. The emblem symbolises purification through education, as expressed by its Latin motto. The fire depicted in the centre of the emblem represents a process of refinement, similar to how fire purifies gold by burning away impurities without destroying the gold itself; and its educational philosophy signifies that students at the college undergo an academic and personal journey to emerge as better, refined individuals.

MANIPUR UNIVERSITY OF CULTURE The Manipur University of Culture (MUC) was established in 2015 by the Government of Manipur through the Manipur University of Culture Bill, 2015. The university started its academic sessions from September 20, 2016. Currently it offers graduate courses in  dance, music, sankirtana, Umang Lai Haraoba, Thang-Ta, theatre, tribal studies and visual arts and it has plans to offer postgraduate and doctoral programmes in the coming years. The motifs are ensconced by the name of the college in Devanagari and English in red. The motto of the college ‘Education Liberates’ and in Sanskrit ‘सा विद्या या विमुक्तये’ (1,19.41, Viṣṇu Purāṇa, Rishi Parāśara), which translates to ‘Knowledge is the One That Liberates’ is written below the book. The mountain range reflects the local landscape of Kotli; the flowing water represents the local water streams running through the valley, symbolising continuous movement, vitality and life; and the book is a universal symbol for knowledge, learning and academic pursuit.

BENGALURU CITY UNIVERSITY Bangalore Central University (BCU), one of the offspring of the trifurcation of Bangalore University, was formed in 2017 is a state university which is located in Bengaluru. Earlier it was known as Bengaluru Central University and renamed in 2020. The insignia of the university has the clock tower of the British era Central College, which now houses the university supported by a traditional rangoli and yantra in reddish brown colour.
