Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS) is a deemed-to-be-university located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It offers courses in dentistry, management, law, engineering, medicine, liberal arts, sciences, nursing, medical and physiotherapy through its colleges and schools located in Poonamallee and Thandalam. The emblem of the university has an open book supporting Caduceus the Staff of Hermes with a pair of entwined snakes and wings denoting medicine and medical profession, with the top end of the staff ends as a sacred ‘Vel’ or spear of Lord Murugan. These are crested by its status and supported by its year of establishment and its motto ‘Knowledge Conquers All’. All theses are by the name of the university written in a circular form. All these are ensconced in a blue gear wheel with light green edges. The gear wheel symbolises interconnectedness; efficiency and precision; progress and advancement; synchronisation and timing and order and structure; the open book denotes knowledge and wisdom and the sacred Vel denotes victory, removal of obstacles, growth, wealth and prosperity.
