The shield is supported by a blue banner inscribed with the motto of the college in Tamil ‘உள்ளம் உடைமை உடைமை’ (592, Thirukkural, Thiruvalluvar) meaning ‘Thought in the mind hath made us. What we are by thought was wrought and built). The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the book refers to learning, knowledge, education and wisdom; the swan is sacred and are symbols of grace and beauty; and the temple refers to heritage and tradition, and divine grace and guidance.
