The emblem of Government Arts College For Women, Kumbakonam (GCWK) features the motifs of an open book, a traditional lamp, a swan on water supported by a lotus at the bottom, a pair of crests of paddy supporting on the sides and crested by a gopuram. Below the motifs, on a ribbon ‘நல்வரவு’ meaning ‘Welcome’ is written. The lotus denotes purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty; the crests of paddy refers to granary of Tamilnadu and production of rice; the swan is sacred and are symbols of grace and beauty; the book is a symbol of learning, education, knowledge and wisdom; the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; and the gopuram refers to the place with many temples, divine blessings and guidance.
