The emblem of Government Arts and Science College, Thiruvottiyur (GASC Thiruvottiyur) features an image of the gopuram of Sri Thyagaraja Temple placed on a background of water and the motifs of an open book and a traditional lamp ensconced by a blue circular border inscribed with the name of the college. Below the seal, on a blue banner, the motto of the college in Tamil ‘கைப்பொருள் தன்னின் மெய்ப்பொருள் கல்வி’ (22, Kondraivendhan, Avvaiyar) meaning ‘True Wealth is the Education one has Acquired, rather than the Wealth one Possess’ is inscribed. The gopuram symbolises the places’s history, heritage and divine blessings and guidance; the water refers to the Cooum river; the book refers to learning, education, knowledge and wisdom and the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity.

The green toned circular emblem of the university has a motif of a farmer tilling the soil using cattle and plough placed over an open book signifying the knowledge, wisdom and education of agriculture. Below this its motto in Sanskrit ‘कृषि मूलम् जगत् सर्वम्’ meaning ‘Agriculture is the Root of the World’ is written.
