The emblem of Government Arts and Science College, Kottur (GASC Kottur) features a circle housing a traditional lamp, a mortarboard hat with a scroll, a computer and a paddy field ensconced by a blue circular border inscribed with the name of the college. The seal is supported by a pair of laurels on the sides and by a red banner at the bottom inscribed with the motto of the college. The lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; the mortarboard hat or Oxford hat denotes educational achievement, equality, tradition and rights of passage; the field refers to agriculture; the computer refers to science and technology; and the laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.

UNIVERSITY OF JAMMU The University of Jammu (UoJ) came into existence in 1969 through the Kashmir and Jammu Universities Act 1969 following bifurcation of the erstwhile University of Jammu and Kashmir. The circular emblem of the university has an open book supporting a lotus with a background of mountains and surmounted by atomic structure. These are ensconced by a yellow circular border which carries its motto in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya,1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘From Darkness Lead me to Light’ on one side and its name in Kashmiri on the other side. SANT GAHIRA GURU VISHWAVIDYALAYA The circular emblem of Sant Gahira Guru Vishwavidyalaya (SGCG), formerly known a s Sarguja University has a circular border in orange and green and has its name, place and motto inscribed in Devanagari and supported by a pair of tribal ornaments. The motto is written in Sanskrit which is an extract from the Kathopanishad ‘विद्ययाऽमृतमश्नुते’, (Shloka 11, Ishopanishad) meaning ‘Immortality is Gained from Learning’.
