The emblem of Government Medical College, The Nilgiris (GMCH Nilgiris) features the Staff of Hermes or Staff of Caduceus entwined by a serpent placed on a circular image of the mountains of Nilgiris with tea gardens. The motifs are ensconced by a blue circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. A pair of laurels support the seal on the sides and a blue banner inscribed with the motto of the college ‘Serve to Heal’ supports the seal at the bottom. The year of the establishment of the college is written at the bottom. The staff with the snake has long been a symbol of medicine and the medical profession. The laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.
