VIRUDHUNAGAR (GMCV) |
The emblem of Government Medical College, Virudhunagar (GMCV) features an image of Andal Renga Mannar Temple gopuram supporting the Staff of Hermes or Staff of Caduceus with a pair of wings and entwined by a pair of serpents. A pair of laurels support the images on sides and an open book and two pairs of abstract humans from the bottom. The motifs are surmounted by the name of the college and ensconced by a green circle. Below the seal, the motto of the college ‘We Can, We Care, We Cure’ is written. The staff with the snake has long been a symbol of medicine and the medical profession; the laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication; the book refers to learning, education, knowledge and wisdom; and the human figures represent the stakeholders and beneficiaries.
