The emblem of Government Arts and Science College for Women, Veppur (GASCWV) features a blue mortarboard hat supporting the motifs of an decorative oval housing the abstract images of women standing on the nodes of a network diagram, a silhouette profiles of a woman, an airplane and a traditional lamp and the motto of the college in Tamil ‘கற்க கசடற’ (391, Thirukkural, Thiruvalluvar) meaning ‘Learn Thoroughly What Should be Learned’. The mortarboard hat or Oxford hat denotes educational achievement, equality, tradition and rights of passage; the women on the nodes of the network refers to unity and connectivity of women to further their growth; the airplane denotes science and technology; and the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity.

COTTON UNIVERSITY Cotton University (CU) was formerly known as Cotton College, the institute was established in 1901 by Sir Henry Stedman Cotton, the Chief Commissioner of the erstwhile British province of Assam. It became a constituent college of Gauhati University in 1948. In 2011 the Cotton College State University was established vide an Act of the Government of Assam, with the college as a constituent. Cotton University came into being in 2017 through The Cotton University Act, 2017 that enabled the unification of Cotton College State University and Cotton College. PALLAVA DYNASTY - BULL The Pallava Dynasty existed from 275 CE to 897 CE, ruling a significant portion of the Deccan, also known as Thondaimandalam. The dynasty rose to prominence after the downfall of the Satavahana dynasty, with whom they had formerly served as feudatories. The Pallavas became a major South Indian power during the reign of Mahendravarman I(600–630 CE) and Narasimhavarman I (630–668 CE), dominating for about 600 years, until the end of the 9th century. Kancheepuram served as the capital of the Pallava kingdom.  They developed the Pallava script, from which, Grantha ultimately took form. This script eventually gave rise to several other Southeast Asian scripts such Khmer. The Chinese traveller Xuanzang visited Kanchipuram during Pallava rule and extolled their benign rule.
