The emblem of Government Arts College, Trichy (GAC Trichy) features the motifs of the historic Rockfort of Tiruchirapally supported by the facade and the bird’s eye view of the college placed in a circle ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. On a banner placed on the seal at the bottom, the motto of the college ‘அறிவுடையார் எல்லாம் உடையார்’ (430, Thirukkural, Thiruvalluvar) meaning ‘The Wise Possess Everything (Even if They Have Nothing Else)’. The Rockfort symbolises the history and heritage of the place of the college.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
