The emblem of Government Arts and Science College, Aranthangi (GASCPA) features an image of the gopuram of Avudaiyarkoil (Thiruperunthurai) supported by the motifs of an open book, a rising sun; ‘homam’ (havan) or sacrificial fire, a lotus and a pair of laurels and ensconced by a brown circular border inscribed with the name of the college in Tamil and English. Below the seal, on a red banner, the motto of the college in Tamil ‘கேடில் விழுச்செல்வம் கல்வி’ (400, Thirukkural, Thiruvalluvar) meaning ‘Education is an Imperishable and Invaluable Wealth’ is inscribed. The temple symbolises the heritage and history of the place and divine blessings and guidance; the book refers to knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; the sun represents life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity; the ‘homam’ fire refers to a divine presence, a powerful transformer, and a messenger connecting humanity to the cosmos; the lotus symbolises purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty; the laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.
