The Tripura Engineering College was converted to National Institute of Technology Agartala (NITA) on April 1, 2006. Its emblem is a gear wheel in which, on a border its name in Hindi and English are placed. Within this circle an opened notebook with a pen is placed, from which a glowing sun of knowledge rises. This is supported on both sides by leafy laurels. Its motto ‘ज्ञानं परमं बलम्’ meaning ‘Knowledge is the Ultimate Strength’ is written on a banner at the bottom.
